Hosted by the Baahng Gallery in New York City, Brian Dailey sat down with Juanita Boyd-Hardy, Co-Founder of Millennium Arts Salon Inc., for a conversation on the making of the WORDS project (2012-2020). This broad-ranging conversation explores the question which launched WORDS, “how has globalization affected language and culture?”. Dailey explained how the three aspects of the Human Condition, Human Character and Human Structure informed the selection of the 13 words participants were asked to respond to around the world. He discusses supplemental WORDS projects such as Tous les Mots and WORDS on WORDS and he even participates in his own project, giving his responses to each of the 13 words on-stage.

Hosted by the American University Museum at the Katzen Art Center, Brian Dailey sat down with Wendy Grossman of the Phillips Collection for an in-depth discussion on how his early works from the 1970s through America in Color (2010-2012) informed his approach to the WORDS project (2012-2020). Dailey shared stories from his experiences shooting in 120 countries covering every region of the world and how people from different cultures responded to concepts such as “war” and “socialism”.
